Canoga Park is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. The area now known as Canoga Park was originally part of Rancho San Vicente y Santa Monica, a Spanish land grant km2) ranch sold off in pieces by the late 1800s. Its name derives from the tongue-in-cheek name created for it when the area’s rural character ended and urbanization began in earnest: “Canebrake” (or ” cane brake “), a type of swampy growth often found near canals.
Browns Canyon Wash
Brown’s Canyon Wash is a 10.3-mile long tributary of the Los Angeles River that curls through heavily urbanized territory in California, between Santa Susana Mountains to its east and western San Fernando Valley on its west side. It begins at an elevation near 3100 feet before descending down past 9000 feet where it meets up with another major river – upstream from downtown LOS ANGELES!
